Information letter: Contract holder responsibilities during Canada Post service disruption

November 2024

Canada Post mail service and delivery has been disrupted as of November 15, 2024.  Below is a reminder to our contract holders of their contractual obligations and how we are responding to this disruption.

Continuance of contractual obligations despite disruption

Despite this disruption, all contract holders, including lessees and grantees, royalty payors, and First Nations, are reminded they are required to meet their contractual obligations. This includes ensuring timely payments and the submission of time-sensitive physical documents, such as subsurface or surface applications, environmental audits, compliance and enforcement reporting and other applicable documents.

Electronic payments

For lease and royalty payors that still pay by cheque, we strongly encourage you to switch to direct deposit payments to avoid delays or penalties. For additional information on how to make Electronic Fund Transfer payments, email IOGCFinance@sac-isc.gc.ca.

Continued delivery of essential mail and no delivery to postal office boxes

During this disruption, we will continue to deliver essential mail such as compliance and enforcement correspondence and executed agreements to industry and First Nations with physical mailing addresses via courier, fax, electronic, or other means. IOGC will hold non-essential mail or mail without physical mailing addresses until Canada Post mail service resumes.

Note: We are unable to courier mail to post office boxes.

Monthly land statements

Authorized company representatives may request an electronic copy of their monthly land statement by emailing IOGCFinance@sac-isc.gc.ca.
